How does the electric standing bed work?

Contraindications:
(1) Acute inflammation in or around the joint
(2) Unhealed fractures of lower extremities, acute venous thrombosis
(3) Joint muscle, ligament injury, hematoma or other trauma in the tissue
(4) Acute stage of tumor

Indications:
(1) Patients who are prone to orthostatic hypotension after long-term bed rest
(2) Patients with lower limb muscle strength, low muscle tone, and low weight-bearing capacity
(3) Trunk and proprioceptive input
(4) Improvement of cardiopulmonary function
(5) Improvement of bowel function

Operation steps of electric stand up bed
• With the patient supine, adjust the patient’s position on the treatment table so that the soles of the feet touch the footrests
• Fix the knee joint strap, pelvis strap, and chest strap separately. (Ask the patient how it feels, and check its tightness. The tightness means that the patient does not feel a sense of restraint when taking a deep breath, and the foot pedal can adjust the angle: varus, valgus, plantar flexion and dorsiflexion)
• Explain to the patient the purpose, effect and feel of the treatment. (Adjust orthostatic hypotension, be able to train the weight bearing of the lower limbs, and feel no discomfort during the treatment
• Elevate the treatment bed. During the first treatment, it is generally raised by 30 degrees. Afterwards, the height is adjusted appropriately according to the treatment time and frequency, and the patient’s condition. The height of each rise is about 15 degrees. Can be upright (90°) after about a week and can transition to a stand
• During the treatment, observe the patient’s vital signs, whether they are sweating, whether they are pale, check the pulse, etc.
• After the treatment is over, put down the treatment bed, loosen the fixing belt, ask the patient how he feels, check whether the patient’s vital signs are normal again, and leave if there is no special condition
• Occupational therapy platform position: minimum shoulder 0° elbow flexion 90°, maximum shoulder abduction 90°

Function: Liberate the upper limbs and perform occupational therapy on the platform. Protect the shoulder joint from subluxation.
